What is a registered dietitian?

Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RD’s or RDN’s) are experts in food and nutrition and are the best source for reliable, scientifically-backed nutrition information. To earn the RD credential, individuals must complete a Bachelor’s degree at a University with an accredited dietetics program. They must then complete an accredited supervised practice program consisting of rotations in a clinical, food service, community, and various business environments. Typically, a practice program will run 12 months in length. The individual must then pass a national examination and complete continuing professional educational requirements.
